电影根据小说《告别夹边沟》改编 。 1957年10月到1960年底 ，在这个位于甘肃酒泉戈壁滩里的劳改农场里，三千多名甘肃省“右派分子”被遣送到此，接受“收容”和“管教”。严酷的阶级斗争和那场著名的大饥荒很快把这里变成人间炼狱，农场内一半以上的“右派”因饥饿而死。1960年12月 ，时任中央西北局书记的刘澜涛在兰州主持召开会议，“纠正极左路线”，开展“抢救人命”工作 ，幸存者才得以从61年一月后陆续遣返原籍 。 影片从原著有19个故事里选取了三个作为基础 ：《上海女人》、《逃亡》和《一号病房》，剧组花了三年的时间去对当事人进行采访，找到了照片、文字、书信，（对故事）重新结构 、重新调整，成为了现在的影片。 “夹边沟”是什么？ 和“奥斯维辛”一样 ，这是一个地名 ，也是一个事件、一段历史——一段事后人们无法想象也无法承受的残酷历史 。1957年10月到1960年底，在这个..
