茶花和采茶灯队演茶公的林水生相恋并怀孕，林水生参加红军走后，茶花生下女儿蝶儿，蝶儿也自小开始学跳采茶灯 。 留洋归来的少爷陈瑜喜欢采茶灯，同时也爱上了茶花 。为了躲避国民党兵的搜捕和土匪报复 ，他陪伴着茶花母女 ，在各地流离颠沛，不离不弃 。红军攻城，林水生杀了伪县长（陈瑜大伯） ，后来林水生受伤，为了茶花 ，陈瑜请来医生救活了林水生。三年游击战期间 ，游击队长林水生受伤被捕，残暴的敌人将他的头颅挂在镇口示众。陈瑜设计用采茶灯表演引开敌人哨兵，抢回了林水生的头颅 。 解放后 ，陈瑜和茶花一起，带着采茶灯队活跃在广大城乡 。茶花百岁寿辰的喜庆日子里 ，万人采茶灯表演挑战世界吉尼斯成功 。
